12/16/2023 0 Comments Spanky smarky![]() ![]() After this performance I think it is safe to say that Morley should do as the Nasty Boys have done and stayed as far away from the ring as possible. I remember enjoying his low-card matches from the attitude era, but his style just doesn't mesh with that of the younger stars at TNA(or the wrestling industry as a whole). unlike Impact… not happy.īut, after getting over being angry about the non-HDness of the PPV, I began to get angry at the fact that Val Venis was wrestling on the PPV. While I wasn't shouting at Morley like the Impact Zone crowd, I was miffed that he mentioned watching the PPV in HD… when the PPV wasn't offered in HD… it was in standard 4:3. Iverson: This match angered me even before it started. We were promised a bunch of new stuff in TNA and I don't think we're going to get that by seeing old stars get their second big break. ![]() When Daniels missed the top rope huracunrada and everyone knew that Morley would go for the Money Shot, the crowd all shook their heads. But here it was clear that they didn't want Morley to win. Most of the time, the modern day older wrestling fan doesn't cheer for one guy over the other. It seems to go against what Hogan said about the younger guys getting a rub off the older guys. As much as the WWE might have wasted the potential of Val Venis when he was semi-white hot, this is not the time or place for Morely to get a push all of a sudden. No one wanted to see him go over Daniels. Morley is a good, steadfast worker, but again I think Hogan is over-estimating his star power. One of his buddies from the Hulkamania "Down Under" tour. Again, the crowd was clearly chanting for "Daniels." He Main Evented the last TNA Pay Per View and now he had to lose to Val Venis. It was solid and I enjoyed Daniels offense. I'm not sure if these guys were told not to steal the show, because we all know that they were more than capable of doing so.įowler: There was nothing wrong with the match. I'd like to point out that while Hogan's girlfriend was a distraction, the big boobed ring girl was juuust right. It was time to get in the hot Tub Time Machine and take a grrovy trip back to the late 90's. (No DAFFNEY? Fowler Smash!) They were going to sit this one out. This show was going to be filled with Hogan and his best buddies. Kendrick and Red did an okay job, but seeing Brooke sit in the front row, next to Hogan's big boobed girlfriend gave the show a huge "this is Hogan's world" feel to the show. I don't really care if it's a four-sided ring or not, but he can't just assume that everyone who was chanting "six-sided ring" was a petty "smark." Smarks just might, in fact, be the majority of the fans when it comes to TNA. I think that Hogan is too quick to dismiss the chants of the crowd - something he once noted should be paid strict attention to. We don't want to see every single persona "fall in line" and do the bowing motion at their feet. We don't want to see them lord over every single wrestler. Everything begins and ends with them now and I think they're over-estimating the audience's adoration for them. I wish this match had actually opened the show instead of Hogan and Bischoff - who have pretty much taken over the entire "star" factor of TNA. It wasn't as amazing as it could have been really, and there were a few moments of "stumbly bumbly"ness here and there, but it was a decent opener. Amazing Red defeated Brian Kendrick to retain the X Division Titleįowler: I was happy to see a one on one match for the X Division Belt, and the match itself was fairly solid.
